Challenge
A placeholder website: A basic site, thrown together in hours—not built to attract, educate, or convert.
An invisible category: HR teams knew their struggles—low engagement, high turnover—but didn’t realize a platform like Mercu even existed.
Lost trust & credibility: Investors and prospects were visiting, but instead of building confidence, the site raised doubts.
No room for growth: The site wasn’t scalable—Mercu needed a growth-ready foundation, not another short-term fix.
Scepticism to overcome: Employers relied on outdated tools. The site had to debunk misconceptions and prove why chat-based engagement was the future.
Solution
Positioned Mercu as ‘The New Way’: A clear, compelling contrast between outdated methods and a smarter, modern solution.
Tied pain points to a solution: Educated visitors on why existing tools fail and why Mercu was built to solve their exact challenges.
Built trust upfront: Used stats, testimonials, and case studies to show real impact—not just talk about it.
Designed for long-term growth: A scalable, conversion-ready site that could evolve with Mercu’s brand and strategy.

Results
A highly polished, professional brand presence that reflects Mercu’s vision and growth.
A clear, compelling narrative that educates the market and makes the case for switching.
A conversion-focused structure designed to build awareness, trust, and long-term inbound momentum.

“As an early-stage startup, we had to be realistic that a revamp of our website wasn’t going to start generating 100s of leads overnight. Instead, we wanted to focus on getting the fundamentals right on our brand, positioning and market education. Working with Beetle Beetle was painless! They’ve clearly honed their craft and process into a well-oiled machine, and we’re very proud of the end result.”

Mercu is a chat-based employee enablement platform built for the deskless workforce.
HR teams at mid-sized to enterprise companies (1,500+ employees) use Mercu to boost engagement, streamline communication, and improve performance—all through the chat apps their frontline workers already use (WhatsApp, SMS, iMessage, etc.).

Despite not actively driving traffic, investors and potential customers kept landing on their website.
They were greeted with a barebones placeholder page—one that failed to communicate Mercu’s value, differentiate it from alternatives, or guide visitors toward taking action.
What was holding the website back?
Outdated messaging:
Mercu’s old site was little more than a placeholder—a basic landing page put together in hours, not built to attract or convert customers. It wasn’t telling the right story, educating the market, or reflecting the brand’s new and evolved messaging and positioning.
A market that didn’t know this kind of solution existed:
HR teams knew they had a problem—low engagement, high turnover, and inefficient processes—but most didn’t realize a platform like Mercu was the answer. Instead, they patched together manual workarounds or repurposed tools meant for desk-bound employees.
Missed opportunities for trust and credibility:
Despite no real promotion, prospects and investors were checking out the website. But instead of reinforcing confidence, it was likely raising more questions than answers—a missed chance to establish authority.
A need for long-term scalability:
As an early-stage startup, Mercu didn’t just need a new website—it needed a growth-ready foundation that could scale with them without requiring a major overhaul every six months.
Simply put, Mercu’s website wasn’t keeping up with the company’s evolution. It was time to build a site that worked for them, not against them.

This wasn’t just about a redesign. It was about making the website a powerful growth engine—one that positioned Mercu as the category leader and gave visitors a reason to act.
Here’s what needed to change:
Position Mercu as “The New Way”
HR leaders knew their current tools weren’t cutting it, but they weren’t sure what the alternative was. The new site had to make it obvious—Mercu isn’t just another engagement tool. It’s a fundamental shift in how companies connect with their deskless workforce. Staying with the status quo meant stagnation, inefficiency, and unnecessary costs.

Meet visitors where they are
Most HR teams weren’t actively looking for a chat-based engagement tool—they were trying (and failing) to make do with HRIS platforms, point solutions, or manual processes. The site needed to guide them from problem recognition to solution adoption, showing why Mercu was a better, more effective approach.

Address objections early and decisively
One of the biggest pushbacks? “Can WhatsApp really be an effective engagement tool?” The answer was a resounding yes—and the site needed to prove it. From real-world results to data-backed claims, the messaging had to eliminate doubt before it even formed.

Show the big picture impact
One of the biggest pushbacks? “Can WhatsApp really be an effective engagement tool?” The answer was a resounding yes—and the site needed to prove it. From real-world results to data-backed claims, the messaging had to eliminate doubt before it even formed.

Make it easy to understand what Mercu does
Chat-based employee enablement was a new concept. The site had to break it down, showing clear use cases (onboarding, pulse checks, training) with visuals and interactive elements to drive the point home.

Lay the foundation for inbound growth
The new site wouldn’t turn Mercu into a lead-gen machine overnight—but it needed to be scalable, conversion-ready, and built for long-term success. That meant a structure that could evolve with Mercu, not become obsolete in six months.

This team are the experts in SaaS landing pages. You feel that expertise equally across content, design and implementation - they really know what they’re doing.

This wasn’t just about looking more professional. It was about changing the conversation—from “Do we need this?” to “How fast can we get started?”
Design
From the start, team Mercu had a clear vision of what they wanted—making the design process refreshingly smooth. They provided solid references, which meant we could quickly align on a direction and fine-tune the details without unnecessary back-and-forth.
The goal? A website that looked professional yet casual, modern yet approachable.
How we brought that vision to life:

Development
Mercu was a challenging but fulfilling website to develop. Here’s what we worked on:
As per our process, we created a style guide for the project so that our client could easily update their website later on their own. This also made the handover super smooth, and team Mercu loved how simple it made making changes for themselves.
In keeping with the theme of connectivity and engagement, we went for a combination of a custom-built, scroll-based navbar, and a lenis scroll animation for the whole website.
Another dynamic element that was unique to this project and made the site more engaging, were the separate animations for the CTA buttons.
So, while the site looks professional and serious, the smaller elements of play really bring out the ethos of the brand.
As there were a lot of animations in the design, it was essential for us to test and optimize the site well before hand-off. Testing on all the major browsers was done in order to check how the website was performing, loading, and running in real-time, to account for all the dynamic elements that we had implemented.

Result
Mercu’s new website is more than just a fresh coat of paint—it’s a powerful growth engine that truly represents their brand.
A site that matches their vision
The new design balances professionalism with a modern, friendly touch, making it easier for visitors to understand what Mercu does and why it matters.
A better experience for customers (and the team)
The site now tells a clear, compelling story that speaks directly to Mercu’s audience. The improved structure and visuals help educate visitors, build trust, and drive conversions—all while making it easy for Mercu’s team to manage and update.
The impact so far
A more refined, professional brand presence that aligns with Mercu’s growth.
A conversion-focused website that drives awareness, trust, and inbound momentum.
A site built to scale, making it easy for the team to update as they evolve.
With a strong foundation in place, Mercu is now set up to grow faster and make an even bigger impact.
